If there is no text selected and a text cut is performed, the whole line is deleted. Shouldn't the cut not work at all in that case?

Nope that is intended behavior and is the same in VS.NET. It's actually one of the features I use most when coding. With that you can cut out lines with one keystroke and paste them other places with another. Very useful feature.
