UserMargin Buttons

Is it possible using the User Margins to draw a button of some type (I could provide the graphic) and then handle when the user clicks on that button/image and perform some event handling?

What I am wanting to do is to use readonly span indicators and then in the margin display a button that when the user clicked it would perform some action with the information in that read only span indicator.
