Prevent Backstage from closing on button click

Hi guys,

I think the subject says it all: How do I prevent the Backstage from closing when clicking on a button? I'm not really sure why it does that automatically, since clicking in e.g. a ListView doesn't close the Backstage, but I would like for at lest certain buttons (in this case I'm using Ribbon buttons) to not close the Backstage when clicking on them :)
