On screen virtual keys

Code Writer works great on my surface but sometimes I'm really on the go and with a tablet that means no keyboard attachment. It would be great if a pallete could house some keys that are extremely necessary but difficult or tedius to get to using the virtual keyboard. Keys like "/ \ < > tab & @ ( ) |" this could be a small pallette near the top of the screen that slides out only when a keyboard is not detected and a touch input is.
