I've found an issue that causes an unhandled exception to be thrown when using virtualization in the PropertyGrid.  I've recreated the problem in the Sample Browser's PropertyGrid - Assembly Browser demo.  Just add VirtualizingStackPanel.IsVirtualizing="True" to the property grid and run the application.  Select any node in the tree, click on any property in the PropertyGrid and then click on a different node in the tree to trigger the exception.  I've included a stack trace, in case it helps:

Hi Rick,

Thanks for letting us know about that.  After looking into it, I'm not sure what we could do about this since it's happening within Microsoft's code, indirectly due to an UpdateLayout() call we do in a TransitionPresenter.

The good news is that the 2017.1 version was just released and we rewrote the PropertyGrid there in the new Grids assembly.  It's now MUCH faster and uses virtualization by default.  I'd urge you to upgrade to that version for maximum performance.

OK, Thanks.  I've been looking forward to the 2017.1 version for the TreeList control, so I was going to upgrade anyway.  Did you check to see that the issue with teh 2016 version of PropertyGrid doesn't exist in the 2017 version?

Hi Rick,

The 2017.1 version's new PropertyGrid control (in the Grids assembly) was built around maximizing performance and making use of virtualization. "Standard" virtualization is on by default in that and it works great!  You don't need to set up any properties to enable UI vertialization in that new version.
