I have looked for a good code editor for COBOL that is affordable but found none to be good enough.

Could the control Support ANSI COBOL 2001 standard?

Hello,

While we don't have a pre-built syntax language for COBOL, SyntaxEditor is very flexible and allows developer to write syntax language features for nearly any language. All of the advanced features you see in our add-on languages are implementing using the public SyntaxEditor API. The Getting Started series of QuickStarts is a good place to get going in building a syntax language.
