Hi Actipro Support

We are using ActiproSoftware.SyntaxEditor v3.1.201 within our product, and we have European customers using keyboard layouts other than US or UK.

Some German users are complaining that they cannot enter braces (ie. { and } ) or brackets (ie. [ and ] ) because on a German keyboard these characters are accessed using the Alt+Gr modifier key together with the 7, 8, 9 and 0 number keys.

It seems that SyntaxEditor component does not accept Alt+Gr modified keypresses.

Please refer to this keyboard map showing the Alt+Gr keycaps for Germany and Austria:
Keyboard layout

There is an older post in this forum that is asking the same question, and there was an apparent fix on the way:
Cannot enter characters with the AltGR-Key

Can you confirm in which version on the SyntaxEditor this was fixed, or is it still an outstanding issue? Can we patch v3.1 that we are using, or are we required to upgrade to
v4.0?

Many thanks

Hi Paul,

I'm not sure which build that was resolved in since it was so long ago. But you may wish to try the latest v3.1 maintenance release (available from your Actipro account) and see if it was rolled into that or not. If not, it sounds like it most certainly was fixed in v4.0.

Hi

Upgrading to v3.1.0225 has resolved the problem, and we have deployed an update of our product, which has already made one German customer very happy.

Many thanks for your prompt reply.
