Does Spider Writer run properly on Windows XP Professional?

I'm having problems seeing my filenames displayed in the Local Files and Environment side bars. (Folders and trees are visible.)

Or do I just need to read the instructions better?

I have some additional information about the missing filenames.

I noticed just now that when I first open the program I see filenames in the Spider Writer folder. However as soon as I change to any other folder the filelist vanishes, replaced by a gray background. Even if I change back to the Spider Writer folder the files are no longer visible.

Also, none of the tools are working. I get an error dialog stating my version of IE is not high enough. Obviously it's too high. Any way to defeat the version checking?

Fred,

Microsoft changed some things in both Windows XP and IE6 that caused the problems you're having. The tools problem has been resolved for the upcoming 5.2 release however we have not yet had a version of XP to test with yet. We just signed up for the preview program and should be able to work on making Spider Writer compatible with it in the next week or two.

In the mean time, please do post ANY problems you find in Spider Writer under Windows XP so we can eliminate them quickly when we get it installed on our system.

Thanks!

Microsoft has been running pretty slow at sending out previews, at least they were last month. That may have changed, but if you have any trouble getting a copy quickly, I have an extra RC-1 on CD (same as I'm using here) that you can use, or if all you need is the key, I can e-mail it to you.

By the way, it's really good software. Microsoft's finally got Windows right.

They finally emailed the codes and download URL yesterday and I've got it running today. We'll get the XP issues worked out and then will release 5.2.

Again, please post any problems you can see with Spider Writer in Windows XP.
