Tips for improving performance on large files?

I notice that loading a 6mb SQL file takes around 3 minutes on my system. Editing the file is noticibly much slower than small files. Is there anything I can do to improve performance on large files? Would setting the language to Plain Text speed it up? Any other tips?

We know that editing large files like that does slow down the editor. We are attempting to address speed issues as the product evolves. For instance, in the 3.0 version currently in development, parsing speeds are over twice as fast as they are in 2.5. That will definitely help.

The Plain Text language may speed it up a little but I doubt it would be a significant increase. Never hurts to try though.
