Would it be a stretch to support a file without an extention?

i.e: Makefile?

Use case:

Im a college student in CS field and use my slick new windows 8 tablet to do development.Im doing development work in Linix(Putty into server or VM e.c.t...) and need to edit my Makefile as I build on my super awesome capstone project. Oh how I wish my awesome touch screen editor Code Writer could edit my Makefile. I dont want to switch to notepad just to edit this document.

Hello, we would like to support this however Microsoft doesn't allow us to display the file open dialog for extensionless filenames.  If we try, they throw an exception.  Unfortunately we can't add this due to those limitations in WinRT.

Hello,

Windows Runtime is actually the universal API that Microsoft provides to us for all Windows Store apps.  The same API limitations apply to both Windows RT devices and Windows 8 Pro devices.
