Window/Document state while dragging

Docking/MDI for Windows Forms Forum

If I drag a ToolWindow (with all properties defaulted) and drop it into the document container, the container accepts it and it takes on the appearance of a document.

I then want to drag it back out, intending to dock it as a ToolWindow. However, it seems I must first select Dockable from the context menu on the tab itself.

Is there a way to avoid the extra step of selecting Dockable?

Hello,

Unfortunately not since the document (any docking window in the MDI area) drag and "docked" tool window are separate mechanisms.  When a tool window is in the MDI area, it's using the common document drag mechanism and that mechanism doesn't have any dock guides, etc. like the tool window drag mechanism has.
