Hi,

i tried to use code writer with on screen keyboard on surface pro 9 with Win 11 22H2.

German langugage and keyboard layout used.

Characters []{} ... can not be entered in code editor (javascript).

This happens, if i use standard touch keyboard layout (standard, no Alt Gr).

If traditional layout is used characters are enterable.

Best Regards

We were able to replicate the issue you were describing. Unfortunately, the issue appears to be related to the UWP framework. When those keys are pressed on the touch keyboard, our window is not being properly notified. Since UWP is not raising the proper event, we are unable to respond to the typed character. It appears to only affect the more modern Touch keyboard layout and not the traditional Touch keyboard layout or the On-Screen Keyboard (which is similar ot the Touch keyboard in traditional layout).

Will an update be planned for the framework and code writer in the future ?

Hi Detlev,

The UWP framework that Code Writer uses for all its core UI services is written by Microsoft.  We are unfortunately stuck in this situation unless they update UWP so that the event we monitor is raised in this particular scenario.  It's very odd that the CharacterReceived event we watch is raised properly for pretty much everything else except in this one touch keyboard scenario.
