if you use HighlightTextColor for either fore- or background then please use HighlightColor for the counterpart and vice versa.
Your MonthCalendar uses HighlightColor for the DayOfWeek texts foreground but just "white" for the background:
While on "fresh" systems HighlightTextColor is white and HighlightColor is dark blue (and so the text will be dark blue), on my system HighlightTextColor is dark violet and HighlightColor is a light yellow: So now tell me how to read yellow text on a white background.
