Are there plans to add builtin support for Windows 7 style ribbons? There are a variety of small changes, but the 2 big ones include:
1) Application button is smaller, rectangular and offset just to the left of the first tab (rather than being a big circular graphic).
2) Ribbon groups are much more understated with single line separators and no hover over highlighting.
3) Title bar and quick access tool bar are different.

Thanks,

Hi Scott,

Yes we will support the Windows 7 theme closer to when it is finalized. Microsoft has a nasty habit of changing themes before final release so we are waiting until closer to that time to take action on this theme.

On a personal note... #1 and #3 are probably better than how it is in Office and keep things a bit more standardized with normal Windows. I'm not a fan of the new group style though. It just seems too washed out and plain in comparison to the Office style.

Is this something that you guys are looking at now that Windows 7 has shipped?

Scott,

Yes although we are prioritizing it with other work we need to get done. We also want to make sure the updated themes look good in Office themes too (using updated 2010 styles).

Keep an eye on our blog, we'll post there whenever there is any news on updated themes.
