Expand window when docking to fit new toolwindow?

When docking a ToolWindow into a docksite, i'd like the host window to grow to fit the new tool window instead of re-arrange the contents to fit new toolwindow. I'm trying to give the effect of snapping windows together like lego instead of stuffing a sock into a drawer.

Any idea how to do this?

I like your analogies!

Unfortunately this isn't possible right now. Things like the blue drop targets pre-calculate size based on the putting in the existing host and don't consider the possibility of growing the host. Also there isn't an event you can tie into right now upon a dock operation that would be reliable to manually grow the host.

Okay. thanks for the info. That event would be useful for other things too (trigger sound?) if there's a wish list somewhere.
The latest build of this product (v24.1.3) was released 6 days ago, which was after the last post in this thread.
